Black Artists of Today (BAT) was formed in order to give space to black voices that may, at times, feel silenced, unseen, misunderstood, unheard or ignored. Our mission is to create a community for black actors to apply learned material while exploring other talents through devised work. BAT provides a safe place for our members to speak and create freely to bring themselves to the larger community. BAT provides black actors, within The Theatre School, a place to discuss the dynamic that their presence has within The Theatre School and the overall DePaul community. BAT is the forum for black actors to help transition back into the greater ensemble that works towards being inclusive, supportive and diverse. Within this group, we celebrate each individuals’ perspective on the black experience, whether it be an oppressive or priviledge state and crafts their lived experiences into theater. BAT is made up of Black artists that come from different religions, cultures, classes, gender, sexuality, regions, and experiences that all fall under the wide umbrella that is “Blackness”. BAT invites audience members to step outside of their own existence and take a peep through the lens of young, gifted, and black artists.

Camp Kesem at DePaul is a non-profit student organization. The student-run summer camp program serves children ages 6-18 whose parents have, have had, or have passed away from cancer. The Camp Kesem at DePaul program is a summer camp that serves a commonly neglected portion of the cancer community and allows campers to build self-esteem and gain support from peers undergoing similar challenges. The purpose of the camp is to build a supportive network of friendships within Camp Kesem at DePaul and the Chicago communities for families coping with cancer.

The War Resisters League describes nonviolence as “an active form of resistance to systems of privilege and domination, a philosophy for liberation, an approach to movement building, a tactic of non-cooperation, and a practice we can employ to transform the world.”

DePaul’s chapter of Campaign Nonviolence is a space where students are invited to explore strategies and practices of active nonviolence through education, conversation, and community engagement. Meetings will consist of informative opportunities regarding various nonviolent tactics and methods of organizing. We will analyze the work of others, as well as build off of each other’s ideas and personal experiences. We will host regular trainings and workshops on nonviolent activism, restorative justice, civil disobedience, direct action, and movement-building.

The Community Peacemakers Initiative (CPM) is a partnership between the Chicago Public Schools and DePaul University. CPM matches Peacemakers with high school teachers and their students. In the classroom, Peacemakers, in collaboration with their teacher, will facilitate a series of activities that explores the roots and systemic causes of violence, peace, and how the students can enact change. The activities culminate into a final Peace Project, where the students choose to use what they learned during the year to promote peace in their communities. Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller. The goal was simple. Fuller imagined a group of people of all backgrounds working together to provide housing for those in need. The organization believes, most fundamentally, in the value of the home as the source of security, and pride for families all across the world. How can children grow and learn without a place of shelter they may call their own? How may families foster unity and love without a home that is theirs? The mission of the DePaul University Habitat for Humanity chapter is to stimulate and capture the imagination and passion of the DePaul community in order to productively involve them in this work: the building and rehabilitation of homes throughout the United States and abroad. As we involve ourselves in the unique communities outside of our campus, we seek to educate our campus about the value of decent and affordable housing.

Mock trial's mission is to give students early experience in legal procedures, and a comprehensive, first-hand look at what law looks like in practice. Even if students aren't interested in law specifically, skills and experiences acquired can be important for history, sociology, anthropology, political science, or other subjects that intersect with the law. Mock Trial will teach students invaluable skills that are directly applicable to their academic and personal pursuits. Students who participate gain analytical skills from analyzing cases and facts; as well as how to compose effective arguments and respond to questions or disputes. These kind of abilities are extremely useful in college-level writing and discussions in general. Mock Trial also provides students with the opportunity to develop their professionalism, confidence, and public speaking abilities, all of which are important for both future academic and occupational endeavors. Having these kinds of ability comes in handy for job interviews, class participation in the university setting, and other scenarios students may encounter.

DePaul University’s RHC is a student-run organization established to represent the needs and issues pertinent to every residence hall. RHC seeks input from all residents and endeavors to build community, encourage personal growth, and improve residence life overall.

RHC will plan community-building and community-improvement events in each residence hall, as well as throughout campus by means of RHC's four planning committees: Philanthropy & Recognition (has a focus on community service and recognizing integral members of the DePaul community), Large Scale (has a focus on larger events that create a sense of fun), Student Success (has a focus on the wellbeing of students), and Social Justice (has a focus on equity, inclusion, and justice).

DePaul Rogue is a campus organization focused on advocating for minority, marginalized, and multicultural groups on- and off-campus on a politically neutral platform that is neither right nor left leaning. So long as you wish to advocate for the equal rights of minorities and all, you are welcomed in Rogue.
Every quarter, our organization invites speakers to lecture on issues affecting minorities at our member meetings and issues an e-magazine featuring stories related to our mission.
By taking a politically neutral platform, Rogue hopes to provide a forum in which people of all genders, races, ethnicities, political beliefs, religions, and more may come together to stand strong for the equal treatment of all.
