Frequently Asked Questions

Who may attend this event?

Anyone who is interested in actuarial internships or jobs is welcome to attend. We ask that all attendees register for this event using the link above.

Is there a dress code?

Business formal or business professional is appropriate in all circumstances. For students who do not expect to interview with employers, business casual would work fine as well.

I haven't been to another career fair. How should I "navigate" it?

You should introduce yourself to employers and be ready to give a brief summary of your academics, experience and interests. Also, have copies of your resume at hand. While chatting with the employer, seek to learn more about internships and available entry level positions. Be courteous, confident, engaged, and maintain good eye-contact. Remember to thank them for their time.

It is a good idea to attend company presentations depending on your professional interests as well as the availability of positions. A great plan for the day would be to come early (around 10:00 AM) and meet all employers presenting in the first half of the event before deciding what presentations to attend. Then, during the mid-afternoon break, you could talk to employers with presentations later in the day.

How do I schedule an interview with a company?

Participating employers will receive a complete set of resumes and they will contact students to schedule first-round interviews during the event (10:00 AM - 6:00 PM) or in the evening (6:00 - 9:00 PM). It is up to the individual company to choose who they want to interview, and to contact that person via phone and/or email prior to the event to schedule a time. DePaul will provide suitable space for interviews as needed.

I haven't been contacted for interviews yet. Should I still come?

Companies may take some time to go through the stack of resumes and choose their top candidates, so don't lose hope. You may be contacted any time before the day of the event.

Even without an interview, you will learn a whole lot about different employers and get the opportunity to network with company representatives, talk about your goals and accomplishments with them, ask questions, and meet with other actuarial students.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

The Actuarial Recruitment Day will take place in the Lincoln Park Campus, which is adjacent to the Fullerton Stop of Brown Line, Purple Line and Red Line trains.

More information about campus parking is provided in our Directions page.
