After some discussion, the executive board has come to the decision to support a mask mandate for the club. This means that at all events, indoors or outdoors and regardless of vaccination status we will require that any attendees wear an appropriate face covering (face shields will not be sufficient alone nor will masks with exhalation valves/vents) unless actively eating or drinking. There may be some mixed feelings regarding this for some, but keep in mind we have come to this decision with your upmost safety in mind.
The current literature does still support that medical grade face masks (surgical masks, N95 masks, cloth masks with filters inside) reduce the transmission of disease. Masks work best when everyone wears one and snugly covers the nose, mouth, and sides of the face. (CDC, 2021 / FDA, 2021). The emerging Delta Variant is over twice as infectious as other variants, and even people that are vaccinated can transmit COVID-19 (CDC, 2021). The medical community continues to agree that masks are a useful tool to slowing the spread of COVID-19, and as a club we will abide by this current medical standard to protect everyone the best we can.
