Invisible Neighbors: Fighting the Stigma of Homelessness in Chicago

Please join us for panel discussions on the current state of affairs of homelessness within our city and what you can do to help dispel the misconceptions and combat the systemic criminalization of homeless individuals. The goal of this event is bring awareness to the complexity of defining homelessness and being transient and their impact on issues including self-reporting, health, work and education obligations, and access to resources. Our hope is to spark conversations among the community about how we can assist in combating homelessness and help with advocacy efforts that support survivors.

This program is facilitated through the partnerships of the Vincent G. Rinn Law Library, the Center for Public Interest Law, and the Journal for Social Justice. Special thanks to our external partners: DePaul USA, Chicago Lights, and the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless.

This program will be recorded for publication in DePaul’s Journal for Social Justice. By attending you acknowledge that your image may be used in any future DePaul communications including but not limited to promotional materials or other university media. Attendance to this event is free and open to the general public. We ask that those who wish to attend RSVP as seating is limited. Seating for this program will begin at 3:15pm. We also welcome early arrivals to browse our exhibit table directly outside the event.

Water Walks Collection Drive

In lieu of admission to this event, please bring one of the following items to help individuals who are currently suffering from homelessness. Our law students will create care packages and hand deliver them to those in need as part of our Water Walks Event, scheduled for April 24th.
