Winter Recruitment and Intake

If you are planning to participate in Recruitment or Intake in the Winter Quarter for your chapter- PLEASE READ CAREFULY!

Timelines:

The Winter Quarter begins on January 8th this year. Per our FSL Policies, Chapters must submit FSL Recruitment/Intake Step 1, two weeks prior to the first informational or recruitment event.

  • Two weeks from January 8th is December 25th. You must have your chapter’s FSL Recruitment/Intake Step 1 submitted on DeHUB by December 25th.
  • Per FSL Policy, you are also asked to submit all events 2 weeks prior to the event taking place. If you plan to have recruitment events in the 1st week of the year January 8th – January 12th, plan to register these recruitment or intake events accordingly. FSL will not approve any events or Recruitment/Intake steps that do not follow the policy deadlines.
  • Chapters may not hold or host any recrutiment events prior to the start of the academic quarter.

Information/Resources:

  • You can find out more information about completing FSL Recruitment Steps in our Officer Leadership Series here
  • This link will direct you to our FSL Recruitment and Intake Steps tutorial on our FSL DeHUB Website
  • Our Policy and Resource Guide can be found on our DeHUB Website here
  • Here are some recruitment resources from PhiredUp if you have any questions about recruitment support

This is a gentle reminder that we do have policies and deadlines in place so please take note of these as you plan and prepare for Winter Quarter. Reach out to your Council Advisor if you have any questions!

SAVE THE DATE!

FSL will be holding our Winter Community Meeting on Wednesday, January 17 from 5:30pm-7pm in SAC 161.

We hold these community meetings as an opportunity to come together with FSL leadership to discuss policy, learn more about the ways we can support one another, identify key campus resources for chapters and councils, and foster greater relationships between chapter and council leadership.

Note: It is expected that ALL Chapter Presidents, Council Presidents, and Council Executive Board members be in attendance. If you are unable to attend, please complete this form and also communicate this with your Council Advisor.

SAVE THE DATE: OSI MEET AND MINGLE

OSI will be hosting a Meet and Mingle event on Tuesday January 9 from 3:30-6:30pm in the Lincoln Park Student Center Atrium.

If you were here last year, we hosted a Meet and Mingle for students to gain interest and engage with various aspects of OSI, and a big piece of this is FSL. We would love to get some Council and Chapter Leadership present at our FSL table to talk to DePaul students about fraternity and sorority life and all that the experience has to offer.

We have created a DeHUB form here to complete by December 21. If you have any questions about participating, please reach out to your Council Advisor!

RESOURCE:
FSL DeHUB Website

We have just updated our FSL DeHUB website. This website was created to provide chapters with a one stop shop for all things you may need for FSL as a member or an officer. The website has information on overviews of our councils, a resource page for FSL forms & surveys (which is linked on the side) as well as a helpful resource page for things such as SAF-B and CAF-B funding, catering from chartwells, and more. Save the links to your computers or devices and reference them as often as you'd like!

EDUCATION:
FSL 101

FSL 101 is an educational program that offers newly initiated/inducted members an opportunity to gain more knowledge and understanding on what it means to be a part of the Fraternity and Sorority community here at DePaul. In this module series, newly initiated/inducted members will be introduced to campus partners such as the Office Health Promotion and Wellness, the Office of Gender and Equity, and our 4 Cultural Centers at DePaul. Newly initiated/inducted members will also engage with vital information surrounding hazing prevention work, social norms, alcohol and other drugs, and learning more about the governing structures and makeup of our FSL Community.

This is a required educational program from FSL and is necessary for newly initiated/inducted members to complete to be in good standing as a FSL chapter. Chapters with Members who fail to complete FSL 101 within the allotted time frame will be unable to host events and make space reservations on campus until FSL 101 has been completed by all new initiates/inductees. Emails with deadlines are communicated out through email to all New Memebrs and Neos from our FSL Specialist.

For more information, please refer to the FSL Policy and Resource Guide on the sidebar of this newsletter!

RESOURCE:
Officer Leadership Series (OLS)

Over the past year, FSL staff have worked tirelessly to program opportunities to better place members and chapter leaders in positions of success around organizational management. We are thrilled to announce our educational training series called Officer Leadership Series (OLS). This educational training series offers chapter leaders and members direct support, guidance and solutions to organizational management services such as booking spaces on campus, managing chapter membership rosters, and completing quarterly reports. Each training series is equipped with step-by-step video tutorials led by FSL staff to best support your experiences! Looking to train executive board members on how to create DeHUB events- there is a video for that! Looking to teach out FSL policies and resources for your members- there is a video for that!

OLS can be accessed by all FSL leaders and members through our FSL DeHUB website. The link is provided below. As we see the needs grow and develop for our FSL community, we will continue to grow OLS programming. If there is programming that you would like to specifically see, we would love to know!

Reminders:

Chapter rosters:
Please make sure to update your chapter membership roster in DeHUB to accurately reflect the members in your chapter. We know that some memebrs may take a step back or even come back to active status after break, so an accurate reflection of membership is important. If you need help on how to do this, here is the Officer Leadership Series (OLS) page that shows you how to do that! If you have any further questions please email fsl@depaul.edu .

Grade Reports:
Drafts of Chapter Grade Reports have been communicated out to all chapter presidents who have completed the FSL Quarterly Report. If you have not received this as a chapter president, please let your council advisor know!
If you need help on how to complete your Quarterly Report, here is the Officer Leadership Series (OLS) page that shows you how to do that! If you have any further questions please email fsl@depaul.edu .
