How to Be An Antiracist / Talk Civil to Me
As part of the Talk Civil to Me campaign initiative to reverse the corrosion of civility and promote productive, inclusive public discourse throughout the DePaul community, we have partnered with the DePaul Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity to educate, engage and empower students with a two-day seminar on “How to Be Anti-Racist,” based on Dr. Ibraim X. 90 Stories for 90 Years: Peggy Burke
For 90 years, Fraternity and Sorority Life members have shaped a lasting legacy at DePaul University, helping to create many of the traditions we all cherish as Blue Demons! In celebration of this milestone, we are interviewing 90 students, alumni, and advisors about their undergraduate experience.
Join us on Monday, February 22nd at 3:30 p.m. with Dr. Peggy Burke, Former Associate Vice President, Student Development, DePaul University. During her time, she served as a chapter advisor and supported fraternity and sorority life through her various roles. She will be discussing the evolution of FSL, big milestones, and favorite memories!

Colorism: Skin-Color Bias in Communities of Color & Ways to Cope
Colorism: Skin-Color Bias in Communities of Color & Ways to Cope: There will be two 45-minute workshops focused on identifying, understanding, coping with, and managing colorism. We will begin with the history of colorism and its roots in white supremacy ideology, then describe how it manifests in the African American, Latinx, and Indian communities. Facilitators will share their own experiences of colorism then discuss how BIPOC individuals can cope with this phenomenon. We will also discuss what steps allies can take to support BIPOC communities. This workshop is open to Students, Faculty, and Staff.
