A VR experience created in the unreal engine. On the Morning you wake  (To the end of the world) is an award winning experience availible on the oculus quest. The experience is about the nuclear mistle warning in Hawaii 2018 that launched a state of panic on the island.

The experience is filled with example of how nuclear weapon threats may effect the security of the island, and brings up the differences between national security and global security.

My personal thoughts on the experience is it goes into a deep dive into the topic. I loved the accounts of the native Hawaiins throughout the experience and the perspective of a pre-militerized culture on the island.

On the Mourning You Wake  is available in VARC lab in the Daley building if you are a DePaul student, and on the oculus store for my VR owners out there.

Stack follows the BEM naming convention that focusses on logical code readability that is reflected in both the HTML and CSS. Interactive elements such as accordions and tabs follow the same markup patterns making rapid development easier for developers and beginners alike.

View-Master├óÔÇ×┬ó VR Headset (2015)

Mattel's View-Master VR Headset is a user-friendly introduction to VR that

takes an all-encompassing approach to the familiar image stereoscope of our

childhood.

The device comes with a preview reel that replicates the original, round reel

that pops into the old-school toy. Except this time, the only thing you pop

into the device is your phone with the accompanying app downloaded and

ready to go. After securing your phone into the headset, you look at the reel

from a 10-inch distance and utilize the same clicking mechanism to demos

various 360-experience packs such as space, destinations, and wildlife.

Hypothetically, that is.

Mattel discontinued the product in 2019, but the device is not completely

obsolete! The QR code inside redirects users to Google Cardboard, an app

that offers a very similar, all-in-one experience. You can also use the device

to view various 360 videos on YouTube (I recommend avoiding anything

involving sharks–take my word for it).

Overall, if you're looking for a beginning VR experience, I'd look into Google

Cardboard. It's lightweight (re: cardboard), affordable, and no physical

extension packs required (in-app purchases precluded).

As a person who loves to listen to EDM on a regular basis and learning to DJ, the development of being able to virtually attend a rave is amazing. VR Chat allows for a fun medium to hang out with friends with the luxury of wearing custom outfits and skins. The features of lights and talking to fellow attendees blurs the line between VR and reality. I performed for a silent rave last fall and it was so much fun being able to perform for others virtually. The pandemic has accelerated technology to make virtual events more easy to access; If another wave of lockdown measures were to be implemented or a future pandemic arises I can continue my performances. I would encourage others who have not done so to try experiencing a silent rave through VR.

Whether it's poor weather or some other thing keeping you inside during the day, VR is one such activity at home that is essentially one of the greatest things you can do to pass the time. While in my dorm room after finishing whatever homework I needed to do, I would play with my online friends either hunting ghosts in Phasmophobia, or various other antics in VRChat. Running around public worlds being a giant Bill Murray head while asking where the nearest Waffle House was was very eye-opening for sure. The possibilities are endless.
