Psi Chi Membership Information

What is Psi Chi?

Psi Chi is the National Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate men and women who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests, and who meet the minimum qualifications. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association(APA) and the Association for Psychological Science (APS). Psi Chi’s sister honor society is Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for community and junior colleges.

What are the eligibility requirements?

Must be enrolled as a student at DePaul University

Must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.25

Must have a minimum psychology GPA of 3.50

Must be at least a second-semester sophomore

Must be enrolled as a major or minor in a psychology program

Must have completed at least 14 (3.5 classes) quarter hours of psychology courses.

How do I apply?

Complete the application on the Psi Chi website: https://www.psichi.org/page/JoinToday.

Email Dr. Zimmerman (jzimmer3@depaul.edu) to say that you applied online and attach a complete copy of your unofficial transcript (NOT your course history report).

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you will be approved and receive an email from Psi Chi requesting that you pay for your membership online (They will provide you with a payment link.).

You will have a limited time to pay for your lifetime membership ($60). Usually within 2-3 business days after Psi Chi receives and processes your payment, you will receive a Welcome New Member email from Psi Chi. If you do not receive it within this time frame, please check your junk/clutter/spam folder.

When is the application due?

There is a rolling deadline. The earlier you apply, the earlier you can become a member and gain access to member benefits.
